Periodicals
The holding of our library includes almost twenty-seven thousand issues of periodicals such as newspapers, weeklies, magazines, journals and series. Of weeklies, magazines and journals, retrospecitve issues are available as well as current ones. We purchase almost 500 sorts of the latest newspapers a year. Foreign journals include 20 of the latest ones in foreign languages. Some of the old journals such as Magyar Könyvszemle (Hungarian Book Review) and Magyar Nyelv (Hungarian Language) have been published for more than hundred years now.
After registrartion, you may use any part of this collection in-site, or you may have made a photocopy or a digital copy of any parts of its materials. You can find newspapers and periodicals in different departments of the library, organized by their topics, popularity and level of procession.
Information Area in the Ground Floor
On the shelves behind the computer desks in the Information Area in the ground floor, you can find the latest issues of newspapers and periodicals that will arouse public interest. Their various topics cover each disciplines, so they can provide information for all adult age groups. Besides national and local newspapers, you can browse among magazines and journals, too.
First Floor
Besides linguistics and literature, you can find art journals, such as Alföld (Plain), Híd (Birge), Irodalomtörténeti Közlemények (Literary Communication), Jelenkor (Present), Kalligram, Magyar Nyelv (Hungarian Language), Műút (Highway), Szalon (Parlour), Színház (Theatre), Új Művészet (New Art) in the first-floor reading room.
Children's Department
In the Children's Department there are newspapers for browsing toddlers and reading children and teenagers as well as for their teachers and parents.
Department of Foreign Languages and Minorities
In this collection you find current journals of linguistics such as Modern Nyelvoktatás (Modern Language Teaching), Fordítástudomány (Translation Science) and some older issues of foreign-language journals such as The Use of English (English), Lire (French), Deutschland (German), Lebende Sprachen (German).
Second Floor
In the second-floor reading room you can find journals in the most popular fields of social sciences and history. E.g., Esély (Chance), Fórum (Forum), História (History), Könyvtári Figyelő (Library Observer), Magyar Pszichológiai Szemle (Hungarian Psychological Review), Magyar Tudomány (Hungarian Science)
Music Department in the Second Floor
Here you can find numerous musical periodicals in Hungarian and in foreign languages.
Local and Regional History Department in the Second Floor
Periodicals form an important part of this collection. Among others, you can find here journals and newspapers from the old times as well as from our days.

We own some county-related periodicals published before 1945. These can be read in microfilms.
Of current periodicals you can have made either a photocopy or a photo. Of periodicals published before 1945 you can have made only a photo, if there is a hard copy of them.
Europe Collection in the Second Floor
Periodicals that are topically related to the EU Collection include the following titles: Bővülő Európa (2000-2003), EU Idő (2008-2009), Európa 2002 (2002-2004), Európai Jog (2004-2011), Európai Szemle (1990-2006), Európai Tükör (2003-2011), Európai Utas (1990-2009)
The older, bound issues of that periodicals can be found in the Warehouse. They can be used in-site and a photocopy or a digital copy is possible to be made of the articles in them.
